Financial Accountability & Governance Statement

The Fredericus Rex Malta Falconers is a registered voluntary organisation (VO/1169) governed by a committee elected by its members and accountable under the Maltese Voluntary Organisations Act.

01

Non-profit character

The society is non-profit. No part of its income or property is distributed to members. Funds are applied solely to the objects of the organisation: raptor care and rescue support, heritage preservation and public education.

02

Governance

The committee comprises the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and elected officers, and meets regularly. Decisions, expenditure approvals and welfare investigations are minuted. Officers serve voluntarily and receive no remuneration.

03

Income

Income consists of member contributions, voluntary donations, in-kind contributions of materials, and occasional grants or sponsorships for specific educational activities. We do not accept donations conditional on any compromise of our welfare code.

04

Expenditure

Expenditure falls into four heads: bird food and veterinary care; facilities and equipment upkeep; educational materials and event costs; and unavoidable administrative costs. Every payment is supported by documentation retained by the Treasurer.

05

Records and reporting

Annual accounts and an annual report are prepared and submitted as required to the Office of the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations, and are available to members. Donors may request written confirmation of how a specific contribution was applied.

06

Conflicts of interest

Committee members declare any personal or commercial interest in a matter before the committee and withdraw from the relevant decision. Related-party transactions are disclosed in the annual report.
