1. About us

This website is operated by Puerto Deportivo De La Kokkola ry, a registered non-profit association entered in the Finnish Register of Associations, business ID 30763607, registered office Kirstintasku 3, 20200 Turku, Finland.

2. Use of this website

The content of this site is provided for general information about the association and its activities. You may read, print and share it for non-commercial purposes with attribution.

You may not use this site to transmit unlawful, defamatory or harmful material, attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, or use automated means to extract personal data.

3. Membership

Membership is granted in accordance with the association's registered statutes and the Associations Act (Yhdistyslaki 503/1989). Membership takes effect when the board or its delegate approves the application and the annual fee is paid.

Membership fees are set by the General Meeting, cover the calendar year, and are not refundable on a pro-rata basis if membership ends mid-year. A member may resign at any time by written notice to the board or by declaration at a General Meeting.

The board may terminate membership for non-payment of the annual fee, for conduct materially damaging to the association, or for breach of the safety rules, following the procedure set out in the statutes and the Act.

4. Participation in activities, and risk

Boating, sailing and shoreline work carry inherent risk. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk within the limits permitted by Finnish law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that may not lawfully be excluded.

Participants must follow the instructions of the instructor, skipper or harbour master at all times. Buoyancy aids are mandatory on all association vessels for all persons aboard. Alcohol and intoxicating substances are prohibited on association vessels and at the harbour during activities.

The association may exclude a participant from an activity, without refund, where their conduct endangers themselves or others.

Participants are responsible for their own personal insurance. The association holds liability insurance for its organised activities; it is not personal accident cover.

5. Berths and association property

Berth allocation is at the discretion of the harbour master, subject to availability and to compliance with the no-discharge pledge and insurance requirements. Vessels must carry valid third-party liability insurance.

Association equipment lent to a member or participant must be returned in the condition supplied, fair wear excepted. Loss or damage through negligence may be charged at replacement cost.

6. Bookings, fees and cancellations

Course places are confirmed on payment. Cancellation more than fourteen days before the start is refunded in full; within fourteen days, fifty per cent; on the day, no refund, except where the association cancels.

The association may cancel or reschedule any activity for reasons of weather, safety or instructor availability. Where the association cancels, fees are refunded in full or credited, at your choice.

7. Donations

Donations are voluntary and, once made, are non-refundable except where made in error, in which case contact the treasurer within thirty days. Donations are applied to the association's stated purpose and are reported in the audited annual accounts.

8. Intellectual property

The association's name, seal, photographs and written content are the property of the association or its contributors. Photographs of members and participants are used only in accordance with the Privacy Policy and, for minors, with guardian consent.

9. Liability for this website

We take care to keep this site accurate, but content is provided without warranty. The association is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its content. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and imply no endorsement.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Finnish law. Disputes shall be resolved primarily by discussion with the board; failing that, by the District Court of Southwest Finland (Varsinais-Suomen käräjäoikeus). A consumer may also bring a matter before the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi).

11. Changes

We may amend these terms. The version published on this page applies from its stated date. Material changes affecting members are announced at the General Meeting.
